These lectures/discussions intend to give the interested student an understanding of how the Christian should view the Bible. Our time will be divided between two separate but related issues. First, what are we to
believe about Scripture? Is it God's Word? In what sense? Is it sometimes wrong? How should we as modern Christians understand the authority of the Bible for our beliefs and practices? Secondly, where did the Bible come from? How was it put together? What about manuscripts and what do they mean? Why do different Christian groups have different books in their Bible? What is the Canon and why is it relevant today? Why are there so many translations and why do they some
s differ? These and other related questions will form the substance of our time together.
