Seminary in the Summer 2008
The course offered this July is God, His People, and His World, Part I: Foundations of the Christian Life.

The Seminary in the Summer program is designed for a layperson to take theological and Biblical courses (for graduate seminary credit, if desired) in a compact and condensed format. The courses serve the needs of people who have full-time responsibilities who cannot attend classes offered in a traditional schedule. Seminary in the Summer is usually held during the second half of July.
Additional summer classes may be offered, depending on interest and faculty availability. The sessions take place in the evenings on Monday through Friday, and all-day class on Saturday. (God, His People, and His World, Part II: Foundations of the Christian Life, the second course in this series, will be offered next summer.)

Course Description
This course is designed to introduce the student to many of the major doctrines of the Christian faith, including as the doctrines of revelation, God, and man. It will address such issues as epistemology, authority, hermeneutics, the existence of God, His nature and attributes, the relationship between His providence and man's free will, the nature of God's creation, and the presence of evil in it. It will introduce the concept of the image of God in man as well as the doctrine of sin. Through lecture and discussion, these and other issues will be explored from the perspective of their biblical foundations as well as their development through church history. This exploration will then lead the student to the contemporary systematic formulation which can and must result in the shaping of practical application of Christian doctrine in life and ministry.
A minimum of seven students must be enrolled by June 23 for the course to be offered; additional students may register as late as the night of the first class. Students seeking credit must register by June 23.
