Genesis 1 and the Claims of Science

Is it possible to reconcile the account of a six-day creation in Genesis 1 with the claims of modern science regarding the age and origins of the universe? Must one or the other simply be dismissed? On the basis of his work in the language and culture of those who first read (or heard) Genesis 1, Old Testament scholar John Walton offers an interpretation that opens up fresh avenues for understanding this foundational text in both its ancient and modern setting.
