The Benedict Option: Faithfulness and Community in a Post-Christian Time

Rod Dreher proposes the "Benedict Option" as a model for constructing local forms of community, ones that build stronger bonds to each other, to Scripture, and to the Christian tradition. This strengthening of Christian culture will be done largely through disciplined practices -- individually, in intentional households, and in the local church. In order to build communities able to withstand the pressures to come, Christians should learn from St. Benedict how to be a countercultural, creative minority.
