C.S. Lewis On Stage: Further Up and Further In

“This is the land I have been looking for all my life, though I never knew it till now...Come further up, come further in!”

- C.S. Lewis, The Last Battle

The Center for Christian Study worked with Fellowship for Performing Arts to bring Further Up & Further In to the Paramount Theater. Using Lewis’ own words, this multi-media theatrical event explored: what convinced Lewis of the divinity of Christ, why the BBC gave him a huge audience to deliver wartime talks that would become Mere Christianity, how Hitler influenced the writing of The Screwtape Letters, and how his profound insights on prayer, heaven and the Second Coming of Christ influenced The Chronicles of Narnia. Further Up and Further In Script Available Now!

In Max McLean’s script for his riveting new play—C.S. Lewis On Stage: Further Up & Further In—Lewis’s magnetic personality, astonishing eloquence and self-deprecating wit comes alive in a theatrical experience venturing deep into the soul of one of the most influential thinkers of the past century.

Film Screening and Discussion facilitated by Drew Masterson

In preparation for the performance at the Paramount, students gathered at the Center for Christian Study for a screening and discussion of The Most Reluctant Convert, a widely acclaimed film dramatizing the early life of CS Lewis, up through his conversion at the age of 32. The older Lewis is depicted by Max McLean, the same actor in the CS Lewis Onstage: Further Up and Further In performance at the Paramount which covered a large portion of Lewis’ life after his conversion.
