Hospitality at the Study Center
Hospitality is central to the life of the Study Center. Our doors are always open. Yes, always. Grab a cup of coffee from the kitchen, find a friend, and make yourself comfortable because this is your home away from home.

Move-In Day Lunch
Move-In Day Lunch is an annual gathering that began in 1999. First year students and their families are welcomed to the building to meet with ministers from different fellowships on Grounds, connect with the Christian community at UVA, and learn more about the Study Center.
Exam Snacks
Exam snacks are hosted during finals week, feeding students breakfast and dinner each day. Some 200 to 300 students will gather for each snack. We also serve a dinner for students on the first day of classes—FDOC Snacks.
We pray for and engage with these students, reminding them that their school work does matter, but that their identity is found in Christ’s finished work on the cross.
Rush Hospitality
Our building has served as a Warming House during UVA Rush since the early 2000s. Every woman participating in Rush is welcomed into the Study Center as a place to relax and recharge during the process. We provide food, drinks, comforting dogs, and female volunteers are available for conversation and prayer.
Graduation Lunch
Each May, families of students graduating from the University of Virginia are invited to lunch at the Center for Christian Study to celebrate. Comfy chairs for grandparents are our specialty.
